Renovated Martuni InfoTun Opening Ceremony, October 5, 2012
On October 5, 2012, an official opening ceremony of the renovated Martuni InfoTun was organized. The ceremony highlighted completion of renovation and technical build-up of the InfoTun. The Center received additional support from Orange Foundation Armenia and Eurasia Partnership Foundation to create a state-of-the art training center renovated in InfoTun-style and equipped with a computer lab. The project was funded as part of the Alternative Resources in Media program, implemented in Armenia by EPF, IMS, YPC and Internews Network.
Honorable guests of the event included Dr. Karen R. Hilliard, new Mission Director of USAID Armenia and Mr. Bagrat Harutyunyan, Mayor of Martuni. Following a ribbon cutting ceremony, InfoTun guests and volunteers had an opportunity to tour the center. Anahit Gevorgyan, Director of Martiuni Women’s Community Council, the host organization for Martuni InfoTun, welcomed the guests and presented the history, progress and ambitious strategies of Martuni InfoTun.
A traditional tree-planting event concluded the official part of the ceremony and the guests were invited to enjoy traditional delicacies of Martuni region, including honey halva, herb dolma and home-made dairies.
